Awe-Inspiring Autumn

Break Out Your Sweaters!

Fall is here, the air is crisp, the light is golden. A favorite time of year for many, the transition from the heat of summer to the chill of winter, Fall offers mild temps, colors and aromas unique to the season. As might be expected, imaginings of pumpkin patches, corn mazes, scarecrows, and hay bales are standards in the more rural locales.

We are fortunate to live near several small farms and this time of year we love to visit them. Each offers something a little different, but all are a perfect backdrop for family photos, fall produce and your official welcome to Autumn.

We faithfully check out Scholz Farm in October each year. Supporting local business is important to us and we just love the place! This is where we pick out our pumpkins for jack-o-lantern carving.  Smaller and family owned, Scholz definitely has a welcome family feel.

Only a mile of two from Scholz is Spooner Farms. Spooner is larger and offers a bit more, but gives up a bit of that quaint family feel. Spooner does offer a great variety of produce and items for your seasonal decor. It's a very popular spot and attracts large crowds.

Just across the street from Spooner is Sidhu's Fruitstand. Sidhu's is newer to the area, but offers fall produce and decorations. There are activities geared toward children and certainly check out their fruitstand for fresh produce selections.

Regardless of which you visit, or if you choose to visit them all, you'll enjoy beautiful photo opportunities and friendly staff. Entrance to each of the farms is free, you'll find varying prices for activities and produce, with Sidhu's being the lowest and Spooner the highest.  Wherever you are, get outside! Don that sweater, grab a mug of hot cider and enjoy the gifts of Autumn!
